Mysterious Antenna ???
On top of the cab is a stubby little antenna, from this antenna proceeds a co-ax-type cable, through the sheet-metal, to underneath the passenger seat; there is a ton of room under this seat.
The end of the cable has a two-part threaded fastener, much like a C.B. co-ax, but maybe 2/3 as large.
Under the seat, zip-tied to the cable, is an all-the-time HOT cigar-lighter plug.
I am thinking this has some kind of cell-phone application, maybe there was some kind of antenna booster, or maybe the guts of a big phone, that plugged into the lighter-plug.
Any educated ideas as to just what this antenna and power source may have been for ??
Thanks.

If you take some pictures of the antenna and the connector on the end of the coax, I can tell you what it is. It could be anything. If the antenna is NMO mounted with a whip approx 3-4 inches long, then it's 800 mhz. If the whip is 5-8 inches long, then it's uhf. If it's 12-16 inches long then VHF. All 1/4 wave.
Again, a picture or two would be worth a thousand words in this case.

What is "NMO" ??
The little antenna stub is about 3-4 inches and looks possibly to have been clipped with cutters, instead of a finished tip.
I have never quite been able to get the picture thing figured out; that's something I need to work on.
Thanks.

NMO is a standard connector used for most mobile antennas. If the thing is 3-4 inches long, then it's probably an 800mhz antenna. Where did you get the truck from?

91 D-250 Cummins, it was a one-owner truck, we are second owner, the guy was a mechanic for a big under-ground coal-mine company in Eastern Kentucky, but retired probably 8-10 years.

GPS doesn't use RG-58 coax. Also a gps antenna doesn't have a whip. It's probably a 1/4 wave 800mhz antenna used for either an old mobile cell phone or two way trunked radio.
