Mold in the house
You can certainly buy a mold test kit at most hardware stores but you have to mail the sample to the lab for results. I think that it would be better to have a professional do the testing if you can afford it. There is some method to how you do the sampling location and method etc.The best way is to do some sitting samples and also samples collected by a vacuum device. We use a place called prolab for equipment. www.reliablelab.com and they are located in Florida. They could probably refer you to a pro. I don't know if you have flat paint or satin etc. in your house in the effected areas but I've had very good luck with a paint product called " permawhite" for use after mold remediation. It's expensive but it works great. It has a tighter molecular structure than regular paint and it inhibits spore growth without mildewcide. They guarantee no mold growth on the surface of the paint. Great stuff. It only comes in satin and semi as far as I know. Cowhand might be able to refer you to someone in your area for sampling. Those fungi's (fun guys) all know each other from trade shows. hehe

LOL don't feel too bad I can never remember how it's spelled either. I just happen to have two posters sitting here next to my desk with 28 of the most common fungi on them. I had to look. I was just ribbin ya. I'm an ICC/ICBO certified inspector and sometimes do work with a company here that is mold certified. I myself am not but I picked up the posters at an inspectors trade show in Las Vegas. www.aerotechlabs.com was one of the vendors and they passed out the posters at one of the seminar classes.

Two things to remember.
1) All houses have some mold, it’s when the mold is in very confined areas with no air movement that it gets to be dangerous. Straight talk its when you breath too much of the mold spores that causes the danger.
2) Bleach kills mold
sounds simple Good luck
