Recipe for a spotless truck

Materials: Rain-X Wash & Wax, Meguiars Clay Bar, Meguiars NXT Tech Wax.

1. Thoroughly wash truck with the rain-x stuff.
2. Dry truck.
3. Drink a beer.
4. Make sure truck is completely dry and cool and not in the sun.
5. Go over entire truck with clay bar per instructions.
6. Drink 3 more beers.
7. Wax truck.
8. Drink beer while waiting for wax to dry.
9. Take wax off.
10. Drink a beer and enjoy the shine your paint has.

I just did that on my truck and holy moly. The shine is unbelievable. The paint is like satin and just shines and shines. I've never seen such depth in a factory paint job. This takes a lot of work to do. I spent a good 4 hours doing just the clay bar and waxing. But in my opinion, it was well worth it. If yall's paint is starting to fade or is just real rough, do the above steps and you'll be amazed. It's like a whole new paint job.

Hey Blue,
I can bring the ingredients to Charlies on Saturday (since you already know what you're doing, I figured it would be faster to just let you do it)

I have an issue with #4.

Where does one put a 7 foot tall truck and have it be out of the sun?

Sure. You bring me a keg of shiner bock beer, the tap, and a trash can filled with ice to keep it cool and I'll do it for ya.

I spent 2 hours today cleaning under the hood and underneath the truck. It's clean, believe me.

Wax?? What's that?
Only thing in the garage that gets polished is the Harley. Everything else gets the detailers spray.
But that's going to change since acquiring the brilliant black coffin cruizer.

Blue,
DO NOT bring a washed and waxed truck to Charlie's in North Texas next weekend. That is the quickest way to guarantee that it rains around here. Seieng as how I will be sleeping in a tent, rain is the last thing we want.

I tend to wait till it rains and just do steps 3,6 & 10.

Unless it gets bad or is unusually dry. Then i do a drive through.

Why isn't my truck all shiney?

The meguiers clay bar is where its at. My old boss showed me it/how to use it(he has a collection of VW old beetles ), and I did it to my 97 before my junior prom, and let me tell you, it was awesome. It took A LOT of time to do it right, but when I rolled it out of our shop, everybody was amazed, it looked better than brand new.

Also did it on my stepdads 03 cummins so I could take it to my senior prom(cleaned it up so I didnt have to put diesel in it ). Made a new truck look EVEN BETTER, I was shocked.

I say use it, I wish I had more time here in college to do it to my 97 again, but I work all the darned time. I'll get to it one day, dirt is doing a good job hiding scratches and whatnot right now.

It's real simple. Spray the area with the supplied lubricant, rub it with the clay bar making sure to keep the area moist (whenever the clay bar starts sticking, that's when it's time to spray the stuff on again), once you think you've got it perfect, wipe it off with a towel. It should feel baby butt smooth. Once your done with the truck, wax it. I've never had a wax job go on that smooth or come off that easy before in the life of this truck.
