I tried a clay bar once. I musta been doing something wrong because I sprayed the detailing mist then tried to rub the bar over the wet surface and it just smeared the clay bar on the paint. How is it actually done? How hard to you rub the clay against the surface?

You have to make the surface very, very wet and keep it that way for the clay bar to work. You only need to apply light pressure on the clay. The key is getting the clay wet and keeping it wet. I went through 7/8 of the detail mist on my truck.

I tried this cay bar, all I got was dull spots of the clay left here and there that were hard to wipe off. I kept wiping the area until all was slick but the spots stayed. What am I doing wrong here. Be aware, this cleaning a truck is a new concept to me. I'm only doin it because I my trying to sell the wifes extra little Geo Tracker and want it to look a little better than it does.

You've got to keep spraying the area as you rub the clay bar over it. The second it gets dry the clay bar starts streaking. You'll know it's wet enough because the bar will glide effortlessly across the paint surface. I ran into the same problem when I first started but realized that you have to keep spraying about every 30sec or so to keep it moist enough.

I had the area soaked alrighty, it rus runnin everywhere. I just wonder if you have to have a basecoat of wax on first for it even do anything. I'm sure it's been years since this thing has been waxed. I'm gonna call the tech help number on the box in the morning and see what they have to say. I want my trucks to look like you said yours did

You can't just spray it once. You have to keep spraying it as you rub it down.
