Naw that's a bird feeder...put scraps in it for the Gray Jay's
I retired from driving truck and now I work mostly in summer doing quality assurance for construction companies...so yea enjoying life.
Warmed up to 5 above, had to pull over and open the flaps on the winter front, and turn the heat down and roll the window down a bit.
Careful on those cold starts, yea they will start but the wear on the engine can add up, depending on temps, a cold start can have as much wear as a 1000 miles.

Sounds like you need some grid heaters in your mouth!

This thread really puts things into perspective. Its going to be the coldest here in like 9 years, but that still means above 20 degrees for the night time low!

57 below? What are you going to do when it gets REALLY cold?

Makes me feel less bad having come from 80 degree SoCal to 21 degrees and freezing rain here in KS.

With conditions like this and living in a low valley the heat will rise, and the low lands can sometimes see extreme cold. Just got back from my jog to the mail box, yes I jogged today since I was to lazy to get dressed up, so I jogged down in a pair of sweat pants, sweat shirt ,socks an slippers and fleece jacket. with hats an gloves, by the time I got about half way back I wish I had wore my face mask, cause lungs were starting to hurt from the cold and from breathing in the cold will freeze the moister in your mouth in to crystals and can be painful an life threatening to sled dogs. So I slowed down and allowed myself to recoup a bit and made it back ok, funny thing tho, only junk mail in the box.

Talking Well, okay TP, if you SAY it's a bird feeder....

Good, way to live life pal! Love to hear people getting the dream ( 57 below might be too LONG a dream but at least you have pink slippers to carry on)

YES! Love to have this site to really hear what others experience! REALLY would have loved to know that California can get cold up in those Sierra mountains (Tahoe area), my cousin never bothered to tell me to bring a blanket. (silly NYers thinking ~ahhhh Cali forn yaaahhh like Baywatch) I remember being told in the Army 'if you are gonna be stupid, better look tough'. We were freezin' our butt off at night, in the mountains Virginia City Nevada. Worth it though to see the wild mustangs at dawn. Temp was only to 20 degrees but that DRY WIND!!! whoa man, it'll take your skin off RAW! can't build fires out there cause everything is so tinder brittle. Hats off to you Californians! Give me a forest anyday!

Saw a show about the truckers that drive over frozen lakes up there; not for the faint of heart gear jammers.......just walking on them with the ice chunks hitting underneath and the top cracks rifling around has me wondering about my sanity.......

AH but it always gets better....got up to 16 above today...we don't seem to see the long periods of cold like we used to, it used to be common to see 2-3 weeks of 50-70 below...global warming is sure changing things up here.

They pretreat the fuel, (#1) with Power service at the station I buy fuel at, I treat it with Howes( 8 oz) when I get home. You boys down south can trust power service if you want.
