Last Day

Well, here I sit at my desk (empty of my stuff now) pondering the future. Today is my last day as a Marine. Not technically my last day (that will be Aug 31st) but the last day I have to be in the office. It's been a fun 20+ years. I'm sure when I wake up tomorrow I'm gonna miss it. For those of you that are still in the service and are deploying (or re-deploying) back to the sandbox I wish you the best of luck. I leave the Corps in the younger Marines capable hands.

Thank you for your life service to the Marines, and enjoy the down time in this transition in your life. You have **** well earned it. May you find a job that you like, and God Speed with your future endeavors.

It wasn't the military, but I worked for the same company for 35 years. I missed it for about the first three days.

Get on with your life. Set a course and stay with it. Good luck and THANK YOU.

USMC2311, Bravo Zulu for your service. I remember that day too. Wondering what the future holds.

Unfortunately, I couldn't retire and finish my days by hunting and fishing. My ex would never permit that.

I miss that lifestyle (ahem, sometimes). Now I have a "real job", I make lots more money, never stand duty, and I don't have to take leave/vacation time over the weekend - what a stupid rule.

Best of luck to ya...... (cheers, thats a beer mug, btw)

I thought I'd miss it when my retirement date approached, but looking back on it all, while fun, I don't miss it a bit.

USMC2311,

CONGRATULATIONS !!!! I hope retirement is everything you hoped for.

Coming up on that magic time myself soon ... I know too well the mixed feelings that you hold. Pass on the torch to the young Marines and know that you trained them well.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor .... you've EARNED IT
