If you work for FORD.......

You better drive a FORD.

DEARBORN, Mich. - The parking lot at Ford Motor Co.'s Dearborn Truck plant just got a little more exclusive.

Plant manager Rob Webber announced Monday that, starting Feb. 1, the parking lot may be used only by employees who drive vehicles built by Ford or one of its subsidiaries.

Webber's move came the same day Ford announced a restructuring plan under which it will cut up to 30,000 jobs and close 14 facilities by 2012. Ford said the plan is designed to make the company's North American division, which lost $1.6 billion last year, profitable by 2008

Wasn't Chrysler the first company to do this?

(And remember, Ford owns Cummins, so you can still park a Dodge there I'm sure...)

So I guess that tow truck that is dragging you and your 6.0 liter to work better be a Ford also?

Chrysler reserved the closest parking spots for Diamler Chrysler vehicles.

Ford has basically done the same. The parking lot closest to the building is for Ford vehicles only. Everyone else parks at a lot across the street. The parking lot next to the building only has space for 15% of employee vehicles anyhow, so it isn't a big deal.

So would driving a Ford qualify one for Handicap parking?

That would edit me off, and I drive a Ford. I wonder if they would give me hassle about the Cummins under the hood ?

Really, if Ford wants to get better what they need to do is interview the people that aren't driving Fords, find out why and fix the problem. Sure you can make the people that work for you drive them. But that won't make the other 99.9% of the potential customers want them.

Why is it that Ford and GM have so much trouble just building vehicles that people want to own ? It isn't hard to see what people want if you go ask them. How many years have people wanted a Cummins in a Ford ? Or at least a nice, clean I6 ? If you gave the janitor at Ford an Internet connection and put him on the Ford sites he could tell you that in about 5 minutes.

Believe it or not....this would be old news if you were talking about the Sharonville Ohio plant. They have been doing this for some time now.
