If you think you had a bad day?
Bigfoot: A customer of mine has made a device for his grandma- it's a wrist-wearable push-button that will beep every 3 minutes if armed- if the button isn't pressed twice within 30 seconds the device will automatically call him (if not reachable his wife) and will play a canned message.
If both aren't available on the cellphone at the moment it will call the emergency medical service. The callcenter knows about the message and is also informed about the medical treatment needed in that case. I think that this is a rather tricky idea- If you like I'll ask him about building a second one for you. (could be a bit of work to adapt it to US phone system though)
Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!

Alpine, thank you but there are some very similar devices over here. It was a very nice thought and my wife and I thank you.
Please PM me again with your mailing address, due to my computer crashing a while back I lost it. I think that the P.B. good fairy is came by the other day and left a package for you.

She is taking speech therapy on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She also may always have a little problem from time to time with some words. But all in all I would conceder her recovery nothing short of a miracle.
When she gets mad at me she has no problem talking.

Bigfoot, after my daughter suffered her stoke she had a terrible time with apraxia AND aphasia. By now you probably know more about those words then you ever wanted. She had extreme difficulty with talking (for a while) but she could sing any song that she ever knew without any problems. Just hang in there, it does get better with time.

Bigfoot,
Thanks for being bold enough to ask for our prayers, I believe in prayer and my family and I will be praying for your family. I'm actually very impressed that so many of us are God fearing guys, what a great bunch to belong to, you can't get to macho to ask for God's help in the bad times as well as the good. May God's will be done with you and yours.

Well Said RAM RED! I ditto that!
BIGFOOT, you and your wife are in our prayers also!
In my profession I have the privelege to work with stroke victims from time to time and have lectured at a local stroke club. One question I asked the group was "Is there any one who is not significantly improved since they had their stroke?" There was not one person who hadn't improved significantly though some did have some residual disabilities. The body has the ability to heal itself, who is to say that in another year they may not be even better than the year before. To cut this short, the nervous system is very dynamic and has the ability to learn and re-learn it can even learn new neurological pathways to gain or re-gain function (look at Christopher Reeves). It just takes time, patience, and effort. And I will also mention the power of prayer is very powerful and it is so powerful that the medical society has done numerous studies on its effectiveness, see http://ijahsp.nova.edu/articles/Vol2...utz-prayer.htm for more info.
