Hot Point refrigerator questions

I have a free fridge I picked up from a guy and it blows ice cold in the freezer and not so good in the fridge section. I messed with it a bit last night and you can barely feel airflow out of the vent on the lower section. You can blow air through it and it seems free flowing. I ended up taking the cover off the back where I could see the fan and coils and let it run like that for awhile and it seems like the lower section started to get cooler.

Anybody on here an appliance "Maytag Man" that could give me any pointers or ideas? Pretty much fix anything due to my cheapness but have very little appliance experience....

Thanks for any thoughts or help

Shawn

the hotpoints usually have a little gate that controls the flow of air from the freezer to the fridge. it's controlled by the little wheel on the temp selector. you can check it's operation by removing the cover from the evaporator in the freezer compartment. also make sure the evaporator fan is actually working as without it the fridge section gets no cooling.
