Hello!!!
Hey all,
Newbie here saying hello. I searched for this site because I found a '98 3500 QC 4x4 dually 24V 5 speed Standard trans for $10k and it is everything I need being a general contractor and having a 28.6' Chris Craft Sportsman sport fisher to move a few times a year. Some things I am interested in are what to look out for and how to identify parts ie. lift pump and block as I have read as much as I could while waiting to be able to post during the registration process on this site.
I hope to be a CTD owner soon as in tomorrow and look forward to many years here on the forums.
Scott.

ought to be in the drivetrain forum...
Watch out for the "53" block. Also make sure the fuel pressure is at least above 10 psi before committing to anything.
IMHO, i have a 24v truck, and probably wont own another...

Don't get discouraged, just put in 2nd gen forum as barko said. If you get a Cummins 3500 dually that has been serviced well and taken care of you will love it.

This forum isn't about trucks. Although I own both this forum and they DTR, they are not related except for the fact that we encourage DTR members to bring political discussion over here. The address for DTR is www.dieseltruckresource.com

The other forum. I cannot help other than to say hello!
The reason blackdiesel might not want another 24v Is because he is a 12v'er at heart I do not really know, just making a guess.

I think a Moderator moved it after reading your original post.
It reads like a new member saying hello (Which should be in the OTHER forum),
not a new member asking for input on the 24 valve Cummins engine. (Which should be in the 24 valve Engines and Drivetrain)
There are many subject forums on this website.

Hey smiler, lets see if I can help you out...
We have different spots for different threads. Try posting your Truck question in the 2nd gen forum. Click on forums at the top, (in the very top blue bar) then 2nd generation 24 valve and ask your question there. Link is below.

I was lost too when I first got here... never fear.
I do not have much experience on the 2nd gens, they are good trucks, just watch the 53 block and fuel pressure, as mentioned above. The 53 blocks are known to crack, so if it is a 53 block, stay away.
Good luck!
