Angry got sooted

got sooted but good...

So here I am tooling along 40 in the 40 zone right lane. Small town by the river. It's a nice fall day about 50 or so. Windows down listening to an old ABBA cd. I look in the mirror and see a black Dodge dually like mine comming up in the left lane. I'm thinking..nice truck. He's about 2 lengths back and I'm about to wave at him and BBBBUUUUUURRRRRROOOOORRRRR I hear the turbo spooling up and a great roar of exhaust. Before I can even get close the window button that big 5 inch soot pipe is pouring a black cloud out under over and all about me. I barely see the brake lites are on so he is really loading it down. He keeps it on for about a block. The whole highway is under eclipse.
I resisted turning on the wipers and headlights just to let him know I was wise to that.
What's with this?? I kinda thought that the DCTD guys were like a band of brothers. You know live and let live.
Guess he saw my plate and figured he'd show me what the locals can do. some show. I was blowing black snot for the next half hour.

hahhahahaa, good story....

DCTD guys like brothers??? I guess you don't have a brother close to your age if you have one at all....

Me and my brother are always trying to out-do each outer, sounds like something we'd do.....

I personally haven't figured out why sooting someone is a cool thing. With all the liberal cry babies trying to get our trucks banned as polluters, I would think we would be doing better on the PR thing. Smoking out a highway is dangerous and irresponsible. Besides, with diesel fuel at such a premium price, all that unburnt fuel going up in a cloud of black smoke is expensive. I love my truck and its power, but never had the desire to be a jerk on the street with it. Many guys with heavily BOMBed trucks are much more responsible. I find it very disturbing that you were smoked out by a fellow CTD owner. Definitely bad form and poor judgement.

I don't mind throwing out a quick puff at fellow CTD drivers. It's my way of waving. Furd's and chebby's are a different story. I do it to scare them.

I've done it as a "hand-wave" type gesture to other deezel owners.
When I get on the freeway sometimes folks don't wanna let me on, so I drive down the shoulder until I get past em then lay into it, they back off and decide to let me on the free way.

There's only a few times I've felt halfway 'justifide' in letting the smoke fly. Most recently it was a car in the fast lane (8 lane road) who slowed down from 75MPH to 60mph when I approached from the rear and blocked lane beside my truck making it impossible to manuver around his vehicle. He then thought it would be a good idea to continue on at that pace for another mile or so. When I was finally able to pass (on the right side ), he sped up but quickly realized not many vehicles actually pass me from a 60mph rolling start. He then proceeded to tailgate* my truck (after changing into the open lane behind me). I'd had it. Drag Comp went to 5x5 and my foot slid off the throttle until zero# boost. Right foot time!! His headlights disappeared for a second until my turbos spooled. He hung back about a 1/4 mile and never got any closer after that.

*tailgate means I was unable to see his headlights in my center rearview mirror.

I do not advocate this type of behavior.

*tailgate ----- Apparently that is the law on how to drive here in this state. I could only find the part that says 2 seconds between vehicles. Rarely do I see the headlights of the vehicle behind me as they all seem to want to play hide n seek. Problem is weather conditions don't make em back off either. Another one is, morning light and legal to not have lights on but there is heavy fog so then they go into stealth mode and run in the fog without lights.

Some people's kids!

Ill only really roll the suit if i see another bombed CTD owner, or someone i know, or if someone is tailgating, and really deserves it in my eyes. I dont like to cause trouble, but i hate tailgaters, and they usually find out the hard way

Nothing backs a tailgater off faster than an enormous amount of black smoke billowing out...

I wish I could get my '03 to smoke.....sometimes here in Phoenix, you can barely see the top of the roof of the car behind you by looking over your tailgate in the mirror.

Is it possible to get a stock '03 to soot ???????
