good karma, or bad?
so I am up in central MN today, got to the town I was headed to, and there was a car stuck DEEEEEEEEEEP in a ditch, but the roads were not covered, they were just wet. I was trying to figure out how he got there, but at the same time wanted to play with the truck, and be a nice guy, so I pulled over to tow him out. I had picked him up a little down the road and gave him a ride back to the car, he was sluring his speech and reeked of something, but I couldnt quite figure it out, it was almost aftershave, and he could have had a handicap that made him slur his speech. but all the combined with how far his car was in the ditch, and how mangled it was made me think something was up. I pulled him out (which I later thought maybe I shouldnt have) then followed him for a ways and watched him almost eat it in a ditch again. so I called the cops, gave them the license plate number and left it at that.
they actually called me back an hour later and said he didnt make it too far before he put it in the ditch again, and was arrested for a DUI.
so do I get good karma for pullin him out, or bad for not calling the cops fast enough???
at lest the truck performed well, just let off the brake and it pulled him right out.

IMHO, you did the right thing in both instances. You did a good samaritan job by pulling him out of the ditch. You are not a trained law enforcement officer ( I am guessing!) and couldn't say for sure if he was of dimnished capacity or not. You did the upsatnding thin again by calling the authorities and letting them investigate the situation. The guy is alive, along with all the other drivers on that road ( including YOU!) possibly due to your diligence. Good job!
I am sure glad he didn't hit anyone head on after you helped put him behind the wheel again, you likely would never have forgiven yourself. That would be a rough thing to live with, knowing all you were trying to do was help.
You did the right thing by calling the law AND not dealing with him about the issue yourself. Like you stated, you are no expert in determining whether he was under the influence or not. It all worked out for the best and we all can learn from your experience.
If you stop to help then decide there is a problem, just make up an excuse and help instead by calling for assistance.... "My engine is acting funny, I better just call a tow truck for you instead"

he is lucky he didnt take someone out before I got there, the bank he ran into was right infront of a school, but school wasnt out yet.
I was actually dialing 911 as he was hooking up the chain, and then he came up to me before I could hit send. I should have just stalled him like you said. oh well, your right, at least he didnt nail someone right after I pulled him out.

Karma is, what you think and how you act. Your intentions where good on both sides of the equation. Your Karma is good and you will travel in your life with more good acts for you to perform and be given to you. This situation was given to you to for a reason, no one was hurt and you have two good Karma acts in the bag.
I've seen people not recognize immediately when someone was drunk, when it seemed obvious to me... but then I think not everyone has to deal with drunk people frequently...
Anyway, it was indeed lucky that he didn't hurt anyone after you pulled him out, and you did the right thing by calling once you did realize he wasn't tracking right.
