Which gas rewards credit card?

I am leaving on a long trip in a few weeks. $1200 (or more!) worth of diesel I figure.

A gas rewards credit card would help with the bill. Any suggestions for a card that meets the following criteria?:

1. No or very high monthly spending limit on gas that gets rewards.
2. Works with diesel.
3. Works at truck stops, particularly Flying J

I wanted to get one from my current credit card company but they have a $300 a month limit on gas purchases that get rewards. A card with a higher reward percentage for the first 30 to 90 days would be nice too.

Cash. Seriously. Most of the truck stops are cheaper if you pay cash.

No way in the world I want to carry $1200 cash with me. I will pay off the credit card as soon as I get back. I'm not goingo pay interest.

Flying J doesn't seem to charge a credit surcharge if you use the RV or auto pumps. The surcharge applies for the truck lanes, but I think using a Flying J RV card might get around that too.

I never use the truck lanes if possible as they fill way too fast and sometimes splash back fuel. It also makes it hard to really top off that last few gallons.

Why not? Just keep the cash right next to the Glock.

Citi Dividend Platinum Select. 5% rebate, so it sounds like you'd make enough in rebates on your trip to make it to the minimum $50 required for a rebate check. Works at Flying J.

Oh, and a Flying J rewards card will give you a penny off per gallon, too.

I have this card, as long as you pay it off every month, it is the best card you will ever own. You also get 5% off at grocery Stores and Pharmacys. 1% on everything else.

I have the CITI card as well and agree with Wilson. Only drawback is that you are limited to $300 cash back each year. With fuel prices being what the are and you got to eat food, I run up on the $300 limit before the year is out. So, I use a Cabales club card for all but food and fuel, it's only 1% but the points never expire so one day I will go in and pick up a new rifle or gun safe

Do not cary a balance and they are very good deals. I even pay most of my bills with them, it's only 1% but it adds up.

Right now, I have a generic rewards Mastercard that gives me 1% cash on everything. This seems better than being tied to a merchant.

I didn't realize I had been accumulating points for a number of years. I got a letter one day about my rewards points expiring or something. I logged into the website and I had over 32,000 points good for $300 in cash!

I did apply for the Citibank rewards card for buying fuel and was approved.

chase has one that is like 3%. i got grandfathered in at 5%. it works at any station and there is a 100$ per month maximum discount which works out to $2000 in fuel in a month which is ... a lot of miles. it works anything pay at the pump (doesnt understand difference between gas and diesel). this is the best i have come up with. and you got it right - flying J prices are lower for autos AND they don't do a CC surcharge.

it's nice looking at the pump and seeing 2.75 and really knowing it is 2.61....

I ended up going with the Citibank one. 5% with basically no monthly limit. I just got the card in the mail a day or two ago.

Youo might be grandfathered in, but new Chase cards have a $300 monthly limit on fuel purchases for rewards. This doesn't help me when I am buying $1300 worth in a month. I would rather have the 6% for the promo period, but not if they limit it severely.

They will only give back $300 per year so the limit would be $6000 a year for gas/groceries and $30,000 for other stuff. They don't have a monthly limit for rewards like Chase that I can see.
