Ford Flathead V-8

I have a friend that has a 51' ford F-1. He is wanting to buy a new engine for it. It is a Ford Flathead V-8 original engine.

I do not know how many of you fellas are into vintage trucks and what knots, but if you have any information where we could look for these engines, your help is greatly appreciated.

Don't those engines have a three bearing crank? If it is the one I am thinking about, the center bearing was prone to failure.
Where is the distributer, low down on the front of the engine?

If looking at the front of the truck, the dizzi is at about a 30-45* angle up; on the passenger side.

Block cracking due to overheating is a much more common problem than main bearings.

Anyone know what size the engine would be from the factory in a 1951 F-1 Ford? It is all original, and against my own wishes, I am helpiong him get aftermarket parts to dress up the engine compartment. man this thing is all original and looks awesome. engine just needs to be pulled and painted to have a real how truck...

and i did not see your post. When i opened this thread back up I was expecting one extra post by the post count that is posted. I scrolled all the way down and answered Mexstan's question, then I put up the question that caused you to go M(essed)UBAR.

I appologize for missing your post. That is the link I was needing and the information that I needed. Your help was greatly appreciated.
