Ford 2005 Standard Equipment

I hear that Ford is offering a heated tailgate for all 2005 HD 250-350s sold in the northern states and Canada.


This is to ensure you do not get your hands cold when you are pushing them.

Whats the purpose of a heated tailgate? seriously, how much crap can you offer to try to sell something. What next, an ejection seat.

I gotta admit...I wish Dodge would start offering some of the same things that Ford does. The latest Superduty's are looking pretty tempting if you ask me.

 

Yep, it looks like Ford is going after the heavy trailer towing market with the new SooperDoodies. Dodge had better fish or cut bait!

Yep. Even with the mighty Cummins in the Dodge....if I were buying RIGHT NOW it would be a tough decision.

 

Seriously guys, I keep hearing about this heated tailgate thing. are you seroius? Not to sound dumb, but IMO Ive seen worst ideas. Suppose it would be good for tailgate fishing. Id probably wouldent consider a Ford from lack of good dealers here(warranty) but I gotta admit I see them guys pullin some pretty heavy loads up our grade and burn by me, and Im empty.

 

The heated tailgate thing really is a joke but I do agree with Hoss and Rusty........Ford's latest Superduty is becoming a very refined truck. I thought the option of the built in brake controller with the tow package was a great idea. How come the big three didn't think of that sooner? Dodge and GM: are you listening?

That said, around here when guys tow REALLY heavy (for a 1 ton anyway) they seem to go to Dodge. Alot of 4 car haulers running around here grossing around the 35,000 lb mark and they are ALL Dodge. The RV crowd here appears to be split between the big three, though.

Yea! Just fooling. I was reminded of the joke when I saw a Ford HD with a 5er on the hook heading north on Hwy 10 between Casa Grande and Mesa Az last weekend. I really felt sorry for the owners.

Seriously, when I was replacing my '96 CTD this spring I test drove the Ford, GMC and CTD. I was not very impressed with the Ford at all - is was # 3. The GMC performed beautifully - Allison trans - but the Dodge overall truck, inspite of the 48RE transmission, is better. (My opinion)

You can add all the bells and whistles you want but if the train cannot leave the station, what good are the fancy ad ons!

If I had bought the Dodge with a six shooter and EB I would love the whole package. But, I do have another half who does not drive a "standard".

I wish the DC exec would take a few wild rides down a few hills with a 7-8 ton RV in tow. Then, they might just think about putting some monies behind serious R & D for a decent Auto transmission.

With respect to the Ford brake controller - great idea but, would you really want any dealership working on such a critical item. I would like to bet on my RV dealer's service dept. They understand and know - mine anyhow- what they are doing when it comes to towing.

I've got a good friend at work who I thought I had hooked into changing to Dodge,,,,,, however his brand loyalty took him back to order an 05 F-350. 4x4, auto. He actually pondered the idea of getting the 450 chassis cab, but would have had to find a bed to buy also. He also said it only came in two rear end options of 4:33 and 4:88 (I think) which I told him would probably be a fuel hog. I ribbed him all the time about his 99 F-250, but it is all in fun. I do hope he has good luck with it and it will be interesting to see how it performs.
I agree,,,, it is a right nice looking truck. Time will tell if he made the right decision.
