The Drive-Thru 7/29-8/4
The coffee is still hot, the apple pies are kinda fresh. Ok, they're only a couple days old. If you're blasting through, stop in for a caffeine fix. We miss seeing the entire gang.

That apple pie is good, just dump it in the coffee for a moment, that´ll do the trick.

1773 - The first schoolhouse to be located west of the Allegheny Mountains was built in Schoenbrunn, OH.
1786 - "The Pittsburgh Gazette" became the first newspaper west of the Alleghenies to be published. The paper's name was later changed to "The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette."
1914 - The first transcontinental telephone service was inaugurated when two people held a conversation between New York, NY and San Francisco, CA.
1940 - John Sigmund of St. Louis, MO, completed a 292-mile swim down the Mississippi River. The swim from St. Louis to Caruthersville, MO took him 89 hours and 48 minutes.
1957 - Jack Paar began hosting the "Tonight" show on NBC-TV. The name of the show was changed to "The Jack Paar Show." Paar was host for five years.
1958 - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was authorized by the U.S. Congress.
1968 - Pope Paul VI reaffirmed the Roman Catholic Church's stance against artificial methods of birth control.
1975 - OAS (Organization of American States) members voted to lift collective sanctions against Cuba. The U.S. government welcomed the action and announced its intention to open serious discussions with Cuba on normalization.
1985 - General Motors announced that Spring Hill, TN, would be the home of the Saturn automobile assembly plant.
1993 - The Israeli Supreme Court acquitted retired Ohio autoworker John Demjanjuk of being **** death camp guard "Ivan the Terrible." His death sentence was thrown out and he was set free.
1998 - The United Auto Workers union ended a 54-day strike against General Motors. The strike caused $2.8 billion in lost revenues.
2005 - Astronomers announced that they had discovered a new planet (Xena) larger than Pluto in orbit around the sun.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
If they made 'stupid' illegal, there'd be a whole lot of nothing going on in this country.

Kind of a weird day for me.
Went to the old folks place.
Had some sweet little old lady yell at me about Bloomberg forcing people to drink breast milk than she backed her power chair up on my toes.
Do you know how much those dang power chairs weigh?
I believe my left little toe may be broken but I dont want to take my shoe off to look at it.
Figured I would say hi and to read the news to figure out what she was talking about.

Installed a vinyl floor last night. Started around 2pm, and after a dinner and a few beer breaks, by 9pm we had about 10sq ft left. Momma wanted to call it a night and finish in the morning, but I wanted to get it done with so...at 1am, and after many, many moments of frustration and increasingly colorful words, we finally had it finished. Looks nice, but holy crap the last few finishing tiles are a PITA!
I'm off to find my TENS machine because my shoulders (and back, and knees, and wrists, and legs, and buttocks, and many, many other body parts) are killing me right now.

My beautiful bride made prime rib for dinner. Robbed the garden for fresh red potatoes and fresh sautéed broccoli.
