Just to San Antonio. I will be on that project until about Jan. My overseas stuff wont start for quite a while. Probably close to a year.
After January, I have NO idea... Hopefully NOT North Dakota. Might end up in Alaska though. That would be something different. I hear it sure is purdy up there.

What the...
It's 0830, no coffee, no people and the breakroom is a disaster AGAIN. C'mon! It's Monday! Everyone should be ready and rarin' to start the new workweek!
MONDAY, JULY 30th:
1502 - Christopher Columbus landed at Guanaja in the Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras during his fourth voyage.
1619 - The first representative assembly in America convened in Jamestown, VA. (House of Burgesses)
1729 - The city of Baltimore was founded in Maryland.
1733 - The first Freemasons lodge opened in what would later become the United States.
1898 - "Scientific America" carried the first magazine automobile ad. The ad was for the Winton Motor Car Company of Cleveland, OH.
1942 - The WAVES were created by legislation signed by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The members of the Women's Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service were a part of the U.S. Navy.
1945 - The USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. The ship had just delivered key components of the Hiroshima atomic bomb to the Pacific island of Tinian. Only 316 out of 1,196 men aboard survived the attack.
1956 - The phrase "In God We Trust" was adopted as the U.S. national motto.
1965 - U.S. President Johnson signed into law Social Security Act that established Medicare and Medicaid. It went into effect the following year.
1974 - The U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee voted to impeach President Nixon for blocking the Watergate investigation and for abuse of power.
1990 - In Spring Hill, TN, the first Saturn automobile rolled off the assembly line.
2003 - In Mexico, the last 'old style' Volkswagon Beetle rolled off an assembly line.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Why is it when your almost dead you're on deaths doorstep, but when you're actually dead you're not in deaths house?
Ok, you got your history, the thought for the day and I just made fresh coffee. NOW GET TO WORK!

Good morning all, I haven't posted much for a few weeks as I have been trying to live the rule 'better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt'. That is getting really boring. Today is my first official day of 2 weeks of vacation. You ever have one of those days where you should have just stayed in bed? That was me yesterday. We have 2 JD lawn tractors. By 4 pm yesterday they were both up on jack stands. One simply needs a new front tire. The other one is going to be out of commission a little longer. The v-belt pulley on the input side of the transmission wore out. I was busy mowing and in about 30 seconds things went from normal to some awful noise. I got it back to the barn, put it up on jack stands and dropped the transmission. Luckily I can hold the transmission in one hand, unlike our trucks. The hole in the center of the pulley was totally worn out and the pulley was flopping around. Luckily the input shaft looks unharmed. The actual repair will probably only take me a couple of hours once I get the new pulley and key. There is the rub. There are only 2 places around here to get JD lawn tractor parts. Both involve a 1 hr trip into the city, neither one stock many parts and neither one will take my order over the phone, even if I prepay with a credit card. So, today or tomorrow I will waste a good part of a vacation driving to Calgary to order parts that probably won't be available for a week or two.
Today I have to de-winterized my bil's trailer so I can take it out to him in the mountains. Hopefully today goes better than yesterday.

Scott, I think Bark is trying to let us know slowly, that he is ALREADY living there and the old gal ran him over on purpose for something he wasn't supposed to be doing. I get the impression thats how he rolls...LOL

Good rainy Monday morning to y'all. Made my own breakfast and attempting a load of laundry. Kinda tough not having the wife around. Didn't know how difficult the simple tasks I took for granted really are. At least the cat is cooperating.

It is, however, much better to be in Alaska in January than North Dakota in January...at least in AK you KNOW you won't be doing anything other than working, and if you're in ND, there's an implied (but false) hope that you're somewhat near civilization and can relax in some semblance of comfort.

They keep me supplied with treats.
You are on vacation. Go to the store, pick up a two week supply of your favorite beer. Hide it in the shed. Than you can spend a lot of time working outside without getting in trouble.
Actually when the old folks go to sleep I make practice laps in the chairs so I will be ready.
Target was 17Kft. They started twisting off at 14kft and it got worse. Every time they twisted off they ran off the whole crew (I had grown to hate working the floors so I was working as medic/meteorologist/radioman/bullcook on that job so I just hid in a corner).
They twisted off enough times that they started rotating in crews they had fired just weeks before.
I still dont have a clue if they ever found anything since (as normal) they just suddenly shut everything down and said see ya at the next job.
I think I am going to lose the nail from my little toe. If it comes off I will put it in the coffee.
