I wouldn't call it free. In some States, panhandling is a real job.

Hum? If you declare it as income and pay taxes on it then I don't see why not. If it was a full time permanent job. Lay off due to bad economic times. You can probably get free vocational re-training.

I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and one of the panhandlers had a sign out that said 'Why lie, I like beer"

I thought what she did was actually illegal?? Seems I've heard something about asking for donations like that being illegal? Just a thought. Dummy, hey I'm like the other guy. Stay on my land for vacation, spend the money locally.....on my land! Got a good view, great cook and no traffic of long lines.

I've seen a lot of different legal descriptions that vary from place to place. In AK that would not be considered unlawful. If she were standing on the street approaching people and asking for money, that would be. The Anchorage Fire Fighters got caught on that one collecting money for MD.

the local FD will stop traffic to take up a collection.
