Dish didn't need a phone line. We don't have land lines anymore since everyone in the house has a cell phone and I (finally) was able to get a cable modem

I was leaning towards the dish network anyway and that just clinched it for me.
You can "phone home" via an internet connection. The Dish Network's PVR can't hold a candle to TiVo. Ask Dish if they can record 2 programs at once while watching a pre-recorded program.

I have had Dish for many years - I have not had cable for 18 years being a C band customer before Dish.

I RV a lot and, of course, you cannot take cable with you. I have a 100 hour recoder, free from Dish, which seems to do everything I need.

When I switch to HD, Dish has a <1K$ package which includes a choice of TV sets and a HD rx with a recorder. Dish also has a multi use unit, two tuners, two remotes for viewing - and recording seperately - in different locations.

I really think they are on top of the technology. Too bad you cannot see Charlie Chat or the tech forum to see the PR and futures.

Direct or Dish ?? like GM, Ford or Dodge we all have our favorites (zealots).

BTW Dish was purchasing Direct last year until the cable companies' lobby to the FCC got it killed.

Check out both their web sites - good luck on you decision or non- decision.
