dish network or direct Tv?
I have dish network and I have 2 dishes and get a signal from 3 sats, HD,Locals and normal programing. I have been with them for a long time, and I have no real complaints, other than them calling me and telling me I should upgrade. But they quite that since the last time when I threatened to cancel if they kept calling me.
I've had Dish for 8 or so years and have been thinking of changing to Direct. If I leave the receiver not set up for awhile, I sometimes have to call in to have the signal approval reflashed. It's a PIA since there is usually someone in a foreign land who takes me through the entire trouble shooting program before authorizing the reflash. The same problem may exist with Direct though. I understand Direct has local channels included with most packages and that would be a determining factor.

I had direct for years and switched to dish because I could get local channels and they had more hd programming. IMO direct has a better signal in inclement weather, dish seems to go out if a couple of birds fly over to close together. Saying that, I am still happy with the switch.
I have direct tv and have for quite a few years. I have 2 receivers at home and take the one out of the bedroom when we travel. Easy to setup, like previous poster stated. I have a tripod that folds up and a dish I keep in the caro hold of the toy hauler. HAve a program on my laptop called satcalc that tells you the angles for where ever you are plus a inline meter for aiming.
Direct TV has never done me wrong, not that they have not tried when I had a receiver go bad. They tried to charge me 20 bucks for a new card when I replaced the receiver. I just told them that they could put my old card number in the data stream and they did it.

I have DirecTV and pay the extra $5 per month and leave a receiver in my coach all the time. My travel trailer has a Winegard crank-up dish with digital magic. I can usually have a signal in two or three minutes. Sometimes I do have to call customer service and have them reauthorize the receiver, or whatever you call it, if I haven't been in the trailer for a while. Not a big deal though.
Ive had both systems. At home there about equal. On the road Direct is head and shoulders over Dish, I would sometimes spend half a day trying to acquire all the Dish satellites. With Direct you can just about throw the antenna out the door aimed somewhere in the right direction, and you got TV. I have a little signal finder ($40) that goes in the coax that beeps louder the closer you get to the sweet spot.To get coordinates from Diect all you have to do is phone them with the Zip Code of where you are and they will give them to you over the phone. Im sure you will be happy with your direct. I am really pleased with my dish but have not switched to HD so my setup is a breeze with just a compass. The few times I have gotten the "not authorized" message, doing the power off trick from the reciever has always fixed it. Hate losing my local channels when traveling but it happens with direct also. ??::Has anybody done the RV waiver to get network channels?
Just switched from cable to Directtv. Love the NFL package and the extra HD channels. The guy that installed mine said it picks up 5 different satellites one which is not even launched yet.
