Disc-brake Question

In each box of disc-brake pads, there is a little package of some kind of slimy substance, kind of like one of those mustard packages that come from the fast-food joint.

There never are any instructions in the box.

I have replaced countless brake pads and have never known what, or where, this stuff is, or goes.

Can someone enlighten me, please.

Thanks.

BK, its brake grease. you can put it on the contact areas where the pads mount to the calipers and the contact areas where teh cailpers mount. Its suppossed to make the brakes a little quiter, but I think it just helps collect dust and roadgunk..

Sometimes it's grease, if it's orange or blue, it's probably a "quiet" membrane to spread on the back of the pad to reduce "squeal".
