Thumbs up Cummins 610 Stump Puller!!!!

Found a new use for my truck. I had about 8 regular sized stumps that I needed to get rid of before we sell our house so I thought I would put the stump puller to work. Man… this thing is unbelievable!!! Rapped the chain around the stump and the truck would just dig down and pull. Stumps were no match. Ground was soft after all of the rain that we have had so I figured today would be the perfect day to get it done.

Overhead display was showing 16 stumps per gallon

Just wait til you're pumping an additional 300+ ft/lb of torque

I pulled a whole 25' tall oak tree out of the ground with a strap in 2 pulls.

I found the weak link pulling stumps shortly after putting in the ATS Trans. No, it was not the transmission, it was the pin for the draw bar! I bent it into a "U" shape and had to heat it up and slam it out! If there were ever a way to determine what you can and cannot pull that is it.

What diameter was this tree? My dad's got a big tree probably 18-24" in dia, but half rotten, and he told me there's no way my truck can tear it out. So, of course, I've got to try . I figure I'll dig out around it some to see what I'm up against, then wet the soil down real good around the tree and give it a shot...

Thats what they are built for.. lol!! work horses... New use to you, fun one for me.. Ive pulled up one myself with my dodge and three with the idi i used to have.. the cummins just shows no remorse... the tree i yanked out was a large mesquite, bout 18 inches in diameter, soft wett ground, came out in three pulls..dug down on two, and on third it came right out....put a nice lil dent in my reciever hitch pin too.... Need me a stronger bolt..a grade eight i take it.. and or a pin.. lol!!

Let it be at that! I don't doubt our engines can pull 'em, but the pin bending is the best thing that could happen. I'd be leary that something else down the line would go if the pin were any stronger.

Grade 8 would snap. It has higher tensile strength lengthwise, but with sideloads will shear far easier due to it's hardening (more brittle). Grade 5 stretches before it goes, if I remember correctly. It was pretty skinny actually, maybe 17-18" in diameter. Straightpulling in 4lo meant 3 cleanly shaved tires. I yanked it with maybe 2' of slack in the strap. Only 2 yanks were neccessary.

found the same use for mine. pulled the nose up to it, wrapped the strap around the stump and connected the ends to the front tow rings. 4 low and eased it out. truck never even flinched.

You guys need to find you a tree with a tap root No on second thought leave the ones with the tap roots alone as they will tear your truck up before they come out. I tugged and tugged on a 22in across mimosa stump one time for days years ago, when my grand pa came over and said you'll never get that one out till you dig deep and cut the tap root and man was I surprised the tap root was as big as the stump for several feet below the ground. Oh yea I was pulling on it with a tandem frieghtliner dump truck with 10 tons of rock in the bed and it would just rock it. Goodluck,,,Rick

I normally fell mine... No stumps for me...

Then I hook up the Cummin Skidder and go for it!

The best pull I every had was done with the rear tires off the ground! Only pulling with the front tires... Man my buddies could not believe it! I pulled approx 200 foot tree with about 38 inch base from up on a steep bank...

I did the same things with mine right after the hurricanes last year. I told the guys at work, "Who needs a chainsaw when you own a Dodge Cummins"
