I use cruise on all highways unless it is a steep grade, or bad road conditions.
As far as fuel consumption I am sure to get better milage than most who don't use cruise, I pass them several times on a long trip after they speed by and I catch them again.

Allow me to redirect your attention to this thread...
Only thing I don't like about the cruise is the feel during decel and resume is basically WOT due to the smarty programming.
