It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Good morning from Paradise. Been too busy to drop by here lately, but on a quick check back, see that the place is hobbling along as usual.
l_martin, prayers said for your wife. May the medical staff attending her come up with a quick and accurate diagnosis and that she back on her feet very fast.
Lary, a new stage of life begins.
Over the years some of you have shown an interest in my way of life down here, so decided to show another aspect of it. Every year my wife's family gather at our house for Christmas. They come from Guadalajara and Mexico City. Our house is halfway between both places, so that makes it convenient for everybody. From Guad to Queretaro is about a 4 hour drive and about 3 hours to Mexico City, although sometimes with traffic, that could become 4 hours. The gathering this year will be for about 25 - 30 people. It will be early this year, Dec 5 as this was the only date that everybody could agree on. We cater the food and serve real Mexican dishes made right here at our house. The caterer's bring their own stoves, food etc and set up outside next to the patio. This house has a large L shaped covered patio. From the stove directly on to your plate. It is a family of 4 or 5 that does this a business and this will be the third year that we have used them. They bring 3 small propane stoves and propane bottles. We always also hire a professional waiter to serve everybody. Rented tables and chairs are set up on the lawn. Here is the the usual menu;
- Gorditas with many different fillings. Love these things!
- Guisados
- Chicheronen salso verde
- Arroz
- Frijoles
- Rajas con crema
- Pollo con crema
- Carne deshebrada
- Nopales
- Salsas of various flavors
- Lots of assorted desserts and drinks.
Just before everybody goes home it is traditional to serve hot tomales with hot chocolate or atole.
Getting hungry yet?
The cost to hire the caterers including all the food comes to about US$120. The entire cost of the caterers, waiter, the renting of tables and chairs (delivered and picked up) and all the miscellaneous stuff will come to around US200. Not bad for a big party where everybody can eat until they are about to burst. Plus we will have lots of leftover food, even if Scotty was here.
Do a search on the foods that you do not know.
Life down here is good!

Good Morning. Long day, and short night. Took the DW to the dealership. She's on beta blockers and blood thinners. Pray for her. The wrench monkeys don't believe in food. Her blood is pretty thin to start with. Hope they don't get carried away and blow a gasket.
I haven't talked to her yet today, but she seemed to be responding to treatment before I left last night. She was in no pain, no obvious distress other than about 25 lbs of edema in her leggs. Making a trip to the water closet about every 45 minutes. I think she'll be OK, but lying to herself for 2 months and hiding her weight gain and flippity heart has cost her some heart capacity for sure. Her work tolerance was getting real low when we went in.
Her heart rate was 140 when we went in. It was down to about 115 last night. Hopefully they will be able to do an echocardiogram today and hopefully they won't find too much permanent damage. I expect ejection fraction to be pretty low.
Pray for me that I don't blow a gasket dealing with this. The doctors know it all. The two RN's I met yesterday are both wonderfully fit young ladies that subscribe to healthy eating, even paleo. One shared that she has close relatives that seem to be suffering from their food. I'm cutting a Virgin Diet Cookbook DVD for her as I type.
I guess the only way I'm going to get breakfast is to cook it myself. Gotta go see what the day brings.

I have read that only about 7% of doctors have any training in foods and even less for the value of real food and food combining. Have yet to find even one doctor that can provide honest and knowledgeable about diets. Even most of the so-called 'specialists' appear to be way off track.
I can sympathize about you blowing a gasket. When a doc prescribes any form of chemical, ask him if it will address the root cause of the problem, or just disguise the symptoms?
Bottom line once again is that your body is a product of what goes into your mouth. Plus some exercise.
An example of this is that for many years my wife suffered with a bad stomach, even with eating very healthy. Symptoms were similar to a spastic colon, plus daily diarrhea. She tried various doctors who all fed her chemicals to "cure" her problem. Nothing worked. Eventually she dumped all the chemicals and every morning and evening ate one raw nopales leaf. In no time every one of her stomach problems vanished and her stools became normal. She is now totally med free. I also eat one raw leaf a day. Here is just one site that shows how healthy this food is; https://www.organicfacts.net/health-...e/nopales.html

Larry, Stan. Thank God for good friends.
Talked to Dw. She had a good night, filled with trips to leave about 10 lbs. of liquid in the next room.
Dr. Foley of Minnesota Natural Medicine called me this morning about a web site suggestion I left for him. He said the cardiologist will send her home with a list of expensive medicines to take for life. He also said that his practice doesn't take that as the final answer, but looks for the root problem. I'm looking forward to working with him. They can run some fairly expensive and comprehensive testing paid by medicare. That's going to help a bunch. Check out his position on Guns and Accidental Death.
Stan. Can I raise nopales in Minnesota?

I have absolutely no idea if they will grow there. Kinda doubt it as they like lots of heat. Do you guys even know what heat is? Do a bit of research and try it. If they do grow, you may be able to develop it into a sideline business. Get an illegal Mexican to run it for you.

JM, hope this finds you at Peace and with a lot of good information from the heart shop. Comforting to know a kindred spirit has enlisted his professional knowledge, hope that goes well. mild cases get Pradaxa, a pill that is a few chemical digits off Gatorade, electrolyte basics. everything in balance, walking/diet/calm. Prayers still covered for ewe all.....
Fiver, stay Blessed. you have been there, done that. now on your bike rides!!
Stanimal, you have been missed. could not take pictures (security) but Dodge had advertising model cars with a DC 3, B-17 at two places today.
you went to one of them. I will try and sneak a picture of a dealer only copy.
some take on the engines was the reason. I saw the ad copy later when I checked my truck in for a steering peek. 140 miles roundtrip for a material today that should have been 40 at most. place was not on route I was told.
you cant get there from here......

OH boy, Stan. Did you bring back memories - - both from High School days going down into Mexico from California and from our RV trip for 5 weeks down the Copper Canyon on the flatbed train and down into Mazatlán, then over to Baja. Some of those banquets we had were amazing. Sure glad I brought lots of Tums. ...........
Heidi - - vent is open, but not for long - - we are getting cold spell heading in. Going down to 75 for a high in two days - - brrrrr. Have to put the heater on in the pool yet.
Finally got part of my office set back up no thanks to Verizon - - had to do it myself - - they were useless. Love my new TV. Wow, were I sit with a 24" monitor, 27" monitor plus a new 28" TV/monitor. It is so neat to spread out all those work screens and see the finished product on the TV while working. Cool.
J - - it is amazing what they can do now for erratic heart beat. Our friend has trouble, but the last doc did some amazing things for her and no more invasive than a cath - - scary when you lay there and watch them in your veins heading for your heart.
Put some fresh ph00 on if anyone is interested.....................

DW is doin gud. They decided the PepTACE she took along is harmless and are dispensing it to her. It's probably doing as much or more good as the drugs they are giving her. Her ticker's clicking along like it should.
I expect to pick her up and take her home tomorrow.
Thanks again all of youse.
