Cool space pictures

Nasa has this cool site that posts a new picture everyday, some of them are quite stunning. I really like this one in particular of a shot of Earth in the distance taken from the other side of Saturn.

Some of the pictures from Mars are also very vivid and beautiful in a stark, arid desert kind of way. Try not to spend TOO much time there

Now larry how could it be from the other side of Saturn?
Should it not be a big picture of saturn if it was taken from the other side of saturn?

Well that should be obvious don't you think?

You can see Saturns rings in the photo which clearly means that Saturn is between the Earth and the Cassini spacecraft albeit off to the side as well. If you could rotate that picture a little to the right you could see Saturn and the Earth at the same time.

In order for that to happen it means the spacecraft is on the back side of Saturn, if it were in front, you could not see any trace of it, rings and all.

Using Saturn itself to block the bright Sun, Cassini imaged a faint dot on the right of the above photograph. That dot is expanded on the image inset, where a slight elongation in the direction of Earth's Moon is visible.
Given that Earth is between Saturn and the Sun and that the Cassini space craft was in Saturns shadow, the physics would deduce that the picture was indeed from behind Saturn, looking back at Earth.
Then again, I suppose some might suggest that it was all staged on a back lot hanger out in the middle of the desert.

looks about the size of a large dingleberry, thanks Larry, now im thinking that were all small dingle berries stuck on a larger dingleberry, or maybe microscopic bacteria on a large dingle berry.

looks cool though, Disney was right, its a small world after all.

Here's the Hubble Ultra Deep Field photograph

It's the deepest photographer ever taken in the universe. Some of the galaxies and stars in it are over 13 billion years old. Here's a link to the wikipedia article on it.

If that interests you, I recommend reading about Heat Death as well.
