Paid (well work did) 100+ for a rechargeable Mag light, battery packs last like a year at the most and last about an hour before needing a recharge.

I keep a rechargable mag light in the trunk as a back up.. I am not to fond of it though only because of the adjustable focus head.. I keep flashlights in my read sap pocket and no matter what the mag light seems to go to wide focus.. So the Streamlight is my primary use flashlight.. Fixed focus, big enough to hit with.. and works every time!!!!...

It has taken a licken and it works every time..

I've been told part of the problem with the batteries, are the chargers going bad and killing them, beyond the typical rechargeable battery issues. Hate paying so much for something considered disposable, but it's no different than a cordless drill I guess. I usually had a spare battery pack charged up in my briefcase, in case somebody insisted on makeing it a long night.

I've never used a Streamlight but my little Surefire 6P is the brightest flashlight I personally have seen...especially if you replace the stock 60 lumen bulb with the available 120 lumen bulb.

a better conversion yet for surefire 6P is a 3watt luxeon dropin. fits right in place of P60 bulb with no mods. puts out aprox. 60 lumens with much longer runtime than std bulb.

another popular mod is to drill out 6P to accept 18650 li-ion cell. runtime increases to 2+ hours.
