THE BEAST wrecked......NOW TOTALLED
USAA "officially" totalled the Beast today.
Their 'value' price......... $7,554

State Farm now has the ball.......... their prediction is somewhere north of $10K.
THAT's more like it.
I should know something by the middle of next week.
I TOLD USAA not to try to screw me..........
Does this look like a $7,500 truck to you?

Ed, how has USAA tried to justify their "value" in relation to "like" vehicles in the area? What are they using for substantiation?
More like "This is OUR price, take it or leave it."
Four "Comps", the closest was in Ohio.
All were priced lower than mine.
Makes me wonder if their Comps came from their salvage yards.
Also I looked as the valuation check-off chart where they list the truck's options.
Most that are on the truck were X'ed off as not on the truck.
Things like power windows/power seats/power locks, heck, they listed my truck as NOT having AC.

I'm not sure WHAT truck THEY were looking at.
I'm thinking they weren't SLT Sport models though.
It's gonna suck to have to let my Blue Chip X pump go.

Nah, ........ gonna let MY insurance company 'total' the truck to OUR agreeable price, ......then let MY insurance company's lawyers tell THEM how much they're gonna pay.

Well I drove the 2012 2500 Big Horn yesterday.
What a low powered, ill shifting piece of crap!!!!
Maybe just this one (dealer says he's had this one since December / everyone that test drives it has the same conclusion).
That was his only diesel.
I pulled the trigger yesterday.
On a 2012 Club Cab 1500 gasser.
Going over the numbers, I factored in the fuel cost
diesel - $3.89 vs gas - $3.59
Annual taxes
2500 - $2250 vs 1500 - $363
Truck price
$45,000 vs $35,000.
Fuel mileage is nearly a wash as they both get nearly the same MPG.
I MISS my '99 CTD dually.
I might have another diesel in the future.
AFTER Dodge fixes the issues.
A disappointed former Cummins owner.

No you didn't... no pix. No pix = didn't happen!
Seriously tho, I think you made a good choice. I can't see spending 40 or 50 grand on a truck that doesn't run like it should and you have to spend ANOTHER 5 or 10 grand on it to MAKE it run like it should but then the warranty is void.
And they aren't really 'trucks' anymore anyhow. Remember the one ton trucks of the 50's and 60's? They were as rugged as the 4500 and 5500's are now! At the rate things are going, that 1/2 ton you just bought will be rated as a one ton in another 10 years. If Dodge is still in business.
How's THAT for a rant Ed?

Sorry to hear about your truck, as I've been reading this thread since you posted it originally. Insurance companies blow....
I guess the cummins guys might want to add your name to this http://www.toptenz.net/top-10-traitors.php until you buy a new one....
Sorry to hear about the fate of your truck, Shovelhead, that was a nice looking dually.
I had my first truck roll like that, I was living in an apartment complex, pulled in the parking lot put the truck in neutral, set the brake, and I went in to my apartment.
All of a sudden the engine sound started getting quieter, as my truck started rolling backwards toward the apartment across from me.
I flew from my apartment, crawled in my truck which was lifted on 35's, on my knees, because I didn't have step bars on it yet, got it stopped about a foot from the curb.
