I guess past the fuse issue and everything else, I would have looked at the guages before I installed them, and if I deemed them soooo cheap I would have had a hard time even putting them in in the first place! So lets add this all up. #1 No Fuses #2 Cheaply made, #3 Flamable liquids in the cab area = Exactly what happened! I'm sorry, you won't get much pity out of me!

Thank you Patdaly!

To be honest I'm a little surprised at some of you guys. I originally came to this website because I knew nothing about Cummins diesels but wanted to install a 4BT in my Dodge truck. Even though I didn't have a 6BT CTD I got a whole lot of patient and helpful advice. I still appreciate that to this day because the project is done and I love it, thanks to the help I got here!

I'm still a diesel dummy compared to the level of knowledge of a lot of guys here. I have knowledge in other areas but not so very much in diesel yet, but I'm learning. When I had that near disaster with the gauge one of my first thoughts was to warn others, and in particular, the guys here. I didn't post for any other reason than that. I can't offer much else here as a pay back for the help I got, but I figured that was the least I could do.

In return I got a whole lot [not all, thanks] of nasty and insulting comments! What, do you own Autometer? Are you the Autogage gauge supplier? If you installed and used Autogage #2319 is it more important to defend your choice and insult me than to take some FRIENDLY ADVICE to keep your truck from burning up? If you don't personally use Autogage instruments or specifically the #2319 then is there any real justification for getting in my face? Myself, I'm not perfect or even close, and I do make mistakes all the time, every day and that isn't likely to change.

Anyways, thanks guys, see ya.

Hey JimmieD, didn't mean to come across so negitively. I just had to throw my opinion in. I use Autometer gauges just not the Autogauge line. There are bad gauges out there, ever hear the problems Isspro has/had with their boost gauges? The dang things tick, buzz and rattle like crazy. You can fix the problem but it should not by your job to do this.

As far as the gauges having a QC sticker backed by Autogauge, maybe the QC is not done by Autometer but buy the knock off company. Cheaper line, cheaper QC?

Another thing to remember, things said on an on-line forum will be taken differently 50%+ of the time as what the poster was intending. I am sure that others also thought you started out bashing Autometer, not just the cheap gauges.

Hey, it's all good. You are learning something here and had something too add that might help someone else.
