No Headlights, Brakelights, instruments, or radio!

This is on a 96 12V 5speed. Just got done fixing the 5th gear nut, unhooked the batteries when I had to tack weld the nut onto the main shaft. Put the leads back on the batteries and 'click'. Cleaned the battery cables and terminals, and put them on again, 'click' again, tried one more time then a small arc flash on the driver's side battery. Now I can get it to start, but the headlights and tail lights don't work, gauges don't work, except for oil pressure, radio doesn't work. I checked all the fuses on the side of the dash, and the large ones under the hood. Something smelled kind of warm when this was happening, but can't find anything wrong. Any idea what to check next?

Thanks

Mike

Check fusible link wires might have burnt out. If you can pull wire and it streches like a rubber band it is burnt out.

Checked fuseable links, all were good. Thinking mayne it's the fuse for the battery?
