Well thank you Bob. Nice to see someone DO something around here besides ME! I always have to do everything and no one cares one iota! Now if I can just get you to put in more than 3 scoops of coffee, maybe we'll have accomplished something.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 16th:
1777 - During the American Revolutionary War, the Battle of Bennington took place. New England's minutemen routed the British regulars.
1812 - Detroit fell to Indian and British troops in the War of 1812.
1858 - A telegraphed message from Britain's Queen Victoria to U.S. President Buchanan was transmitted over the recently laid trans-Atlantic cable.
1861 - U.S. President Lincoln prohibited the Union states from trading with the states of the Confederacy.
1923 - Carnegie Steel Corporation put into place the eight-hour workday for its employees.
1937 - Harvard University became the first school to have graduate courses in traffic engineering and administration.
1954 - Sports Illustrated was published for the first time. It was claimed that 250,000 subscriptions had been sold before the first issue came off of the presses.
1960 - The free-fall world record was set by Joseph Kittinger. He fell more than 16 miles (about 84,000 feet) before opening his parachute over New Mexico.
1978 - Xerox was fined for excluding Smith-Corona Mfg. from the copier market. The fine was $25.6 million.
1995 - Voters in Bermuda rejected independence from Great Britain.
1999 - In Russia, Vladimir V. Putin was confirmed as prime minister by the lower house of parliament.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Being able to regurgitate what you read does not make one smart...it just shows you can read.
AARP Coffee today and it's actually quite exquisite!

Speaking of his fetishes, how come we have a smilie of an old goat but not a sheep?
Couple of years ago late at night in AZ camped out in the desert miles from anybody else sitting around the remains of a fire falling asleep.
Crazy Army or Marine helicopters come screaming over just off the deck and its pitch dark!.
Wife was already asleep so she didnt know what they were.
If I hadnt been awake I would have still been wondering.
What a very nice and polite way of saying that FiverBob's coffee was made by an old guy and tastes like it was filtered through a used depends.
Speaking of old people, my F-Inlaw announced that he is getting married to some gal who isnt even 70 yet.
Means he will be moving out of the old folks place (no more cookies for me unless I adopt somebody).

not me Bark, I want to return to Alaska but not that badly....
they're OLD people! They don't remember why you are there.....keep the good stuff coming brother! heck, you gave up everything else pleasurable..
well, TMI but ya know what I meant, lol
Shorts still around? I wanted to know if she has the capability for leather covering on an old harley seat. machine wise, not aptitude...
Texans know leather....here, they are just dead cows.
did some backhoeing, loader work. miss my dozer but not the repairs.
picked up new bike after getting springer front end re bushing'ed professionally. got to replace the top end gaskets and make the electrical look professional, add a switch stop for the magneto. Vance and hines pipes will cook your arm off reaching down to place the copper tag old school ground. waiting on a disc brake guide pin for the ol police bike, so I am going no where but ready to work.
POST! everyone is welcome! just let know what is up in your neck of the woods, urban, burban or saw shed.
Cincy! good on the farm watchout for tempting chiawka ...ala susquatch commercial....
do not need you stuck with one end in the ceiling/wall.
