Believe it or not, it probably turns almost as tight as your pickup. On most of those setups I've seen, each truck will steer separately, sort of like a hook and ladder truck on steroids.

JKM, what happened to your tractor?

Y'All got it wrong. That is either a very deep hot-tub or a very narrow dive tank for the circus.....

I was thinking it was a big beer can.

JKM: What was the problem with the rig?

JKM you could have called one of us members here. I'm sure our cummins could have hauled it for you.

Good guesses, its actually a drum for a huge cheese grater, like this, only industrial sized :

The truck just up and died while pulling a little hill on I696, I managed to coast it to the shoulder of the road, checked what I could myself and didn't find the problem, it turns out the harness going to the power distribution center, and the PDC itself were severely corroded, why I never thought to look there , is beyond me. I got the truck back at 3 30 yesterday afternoon, half an hour too late to legally move the trailer. I rented a truck thursday night and moved the load to a safer spot , that little truck sure didn't appreciate 250 000 lbs haha

It takes quite a bit of real estate to turn it, having the rear self steer helps a lot, it can be manually overridden for REALLY tight spots.

You can see the rear three axles steering it around the corner in this pic.

Fronty, In the last two weeks, between waiting for permits, holidays, weekends, and this breakdown, i have covered a whopping 45 miles, in two weeks.

What kind of dumb guess is that (ok, its better than mine).

45 miles in two weeks. Heck, the NASA crawler-transporters go faster than that.
