If this pic was taken two yrs ago I would have said it was something big for the Alberta oilsands. In the last year, someone, somewhere in the US gov't has decided to do everything they can to clobber the oilsands. There is a construction project in Fort McMurray that requires some BIG pieces of machinery. The closest port that can offload the equipment is on the US west coast. After years of cooperation, suddenly permits are impossible to get or are getting cancelled to haul this equipment thought the NW states. Official explanations are obtuse but unofficial explanation are that the permits are being cancelled because 'we' do not want to support the 'Tar Sands' which re supposedly the worst blight on the environment to be found anywhere on the planet.

I dont know if you have noticed or not, but incumbent politicians are becoming highly isolationist lately. Instead of making us more competitive on a global market, we are just making it more difficult for the global market to play in our sand box.

I like the little red flags at the rear of that thing, that´ll make sure you see it..

How long is that thing?

I guess it´s one of those things you don´t turn, change direction maybe, but not turn.

I think it is the new rage in creating the tunnels between the states and Mexico. Very un-conspicuous. ......................

There was always a bunch of those sections going through Limon, CO while I was there. I think the one driver I talked to put the weight of the base section at 132,000. JKM, this isn't your usual stuck in the mud, busted the tractor in half type of mishap. I'm very disappointed.

I agree! If it wasn't for the pictures, it'd be a downright boring thread!

Near me, use to be the base of operations /storage for windmills at a huge factory complex(Foster Wheeler). seven tractor trailers per 200 ft windmill for loading.
had acres of assemblies, then poof! nothing. one week had about 300 rigs and 20 state troopers evacuate all storage. rumors were it went to scrap in India/ loaded scrap ships could be viewed on the sea cams along the river...

everything use to come by ship from the Atlantic/St Lawrence seaway/lake ontario to Oswego for off loading to trucks.

now it is about once a month one cylinder will be transported, no storage.

they are 170 feet from end to end, yup weight about 130K and they only head north from Dansville NY....

breakdowns just kill ya.......don't you need certified escorts?

Good ol'Limon, CO. The only place between Kansas City MO and Colorado to get diesel after 12:00am. Pulled in on fumes one year on my way to Gunnison for an early elk bow season.

Hey Eric, what fun it would be to watch you try and get one of those things up your driveway!

And if Scott will pm me cincys address I'll gladly back one in his driveway, then he will have a real pic of me for the random pics thread ha.

That looks like fun stuff.

There ya go JKM. Couldn't get the second video to work tho, no matter what I did. Just kept getting a 404 error message, so I took the link out for now. We don't wanna confuse anyone like Bark with links that won't work!

If it ends up in my driveway, it becomes my property... I have no idea what I'm going to do with it
