Anyone know anything about AirCards?

I have a Sierra 595U Aircard on my Vista/Acer. I goes "Dormant" and I can't wake it up,I tried messing with the settings and no luck. Is their a fix for this problem? When it goes dormant I can't send/recieve data.

We have a Merlin S620 aircard from Sprint that we use when we are on the road with the 5th wheel. I have a Dell laptop and have never had it go "dormant". The longest we have gone and not used it was about 2 month's. Next trip I plugged it in and turned on the laptop and it worked fine. So the aircard will connect but then the laptop turns it off and it won't send or recieve or is the aircard not connecting at all?

I would call whoever you got the card from and see if they can tell you what is wrong with the card. I have never had that happen to ours.

My V740 card fro Verizon goes dormant and stays that way. It also will power itself off on its own and to get it to work I have to exit out of the program and remove and re install the card. Sometimes I wonder if its worth the hasle and cost....well I guess its better than being bored on the road.

Had the same problem with my Sierra card. I start a command line window and a continuous ping to keep it from timing out and it seems to help, but definetly doesn't fix the problem.

Start --> cmd
ping -t www.microsoft.com

I support the aircards here for all the field guys...Never had this type of problem.I would contact the vendor.Or try logging into the laptop using a different account and see if it times out...Could be problems with your windows login profile....

I would say its a problem with the laptop is cutting off the air card. Do you have any power savings features enabled to cut networking off after a period of time. I have never had that issue with my sierra and a dell laptop.
