87' s10 4.3 swap

I got a 87' chevy s10 reg cab sb 4x4 with a 2.8L v-6 and a 5speed, I have a 4.3 out of a 92' chevy half ton 4x4, If I get a tranny/t-case out of a 4.3 s10 4x4, will it bolt into place with my original crossmember? I have stock 4.3 motor mounts from a 88' s10, what about drivelines? Is the 4.3/nv3500 combo the same length as my 2.8/t-5? Also are the transmissions' the same from a half ton chevy v-6 4x4 as a 4.3 s10? there both nv3500's right?Do they have the same transfer cases?

Thanks Matt

not sure if the set-up will fit in the s-10 or not but i'm almost 100% that that trasmission out of a v6 full size will fit the 4.3. as a 4.3 trans will bolt to a 350 chevy.

Be ready to take a big hammer to the fire wall to make room for the 4.3.

Why??? They came with the 4.3 in them from the factory after 88 or so. My first vehicle was a 91 Sonoma 4x4 reg cab short box with a 5 speed and the 4.3. Realy wish I still had that thing. What a blast to run around with. Lots of power in a light, short wheelbase truck.

I've got a 2" body lift so clearence won't be an issue, I tried the s series websites but all i get is " Why don't you put a small block in it?" Well dangit' i don't have a small block! 4.3L manual s-10's are hard to come by in my local junk yards, so it would be great if the half ton tranny/t-case is the same, they look identical. Yes the s-10's came factory with the 4.3 in 88' but no manual option till 90', I'm going to cut all the fuel injection stuff off and just put a 4 barrel on top of an edelbrock. So no wiring harness needed, i just need to know if i need a crossmember or not? thanks
