4BT in S10 Blazer?

I've been toying with the idea of dropping a 4BT in my 92 s10 blazer. It's a 4x4 with the v6 engine. Does anyone know if the TH400 tranny has the same bolt pattern as the small block V8/V6? If so the 4BT bellhousing adapter would probably match up to my tranny. Then it's just a matter of matching up the engine mounts.

4bt swap

i was thinking about this same swapp but into a 91 2wd s-10. i have the 4bt/th400, but thats for the CJ7.

you will have to fab up new mounts, but theres adapters for the th400. just dont know the specifics for them. my 4bt is on a pallet in a barn in Oregon. long ways away from florida.

Well, afaik the TH400 will bolt to the Chevy small block V8/V6 and there's bell housing adapters from the 4BT to the TH400 (used in frito lays trucks) so by my thinking the 4BT with the TH400 bellhousing should bolt to my tranny but I don't know what difficulty I'd have with the front diff and driveline. Fabbing new motor mounts isn't that bid a deal.

I'm not sure what tranny I have now but it's a 3 speed auto with overdrive.

you might have a problem with the drive shaft. you will need to give it a lift. or a simple body lift to help this out.

Maybe if you did a straight axle conversion as well. Isn't the 4bt only a little lighter than the 6? I'm not so sure I'd trust the IFS to hold up, but that's just me. I think a scout or early bronco would make for a nice project though. Dana 44's, Spicer 20's, scout auto's were even 727's. A jeep wagoneer would be nice too.

the 4bt weighs around 700lbs so a suspension upgrade would definately be a must!!!

How much does the 4.3L V6 weigh? I was thinking I could just tighten up the torsion bars.

Maybe I could find some shocks with springs on them to give more lift. Anybody seen these?
