On a different note.... just got low down on the new CJ-4 rated oil for the new diesels!

For the first time in modern history, the lattest oil classification is not 'Backward Compatible' with previous engines! So the lattest is not the greatest! I'll put a explanation in the General Forum when I can... but for now...don't buy it and don't use it in 06 CTD our earlier!!!

Stay with CI-4. I would avoid the CI-4+ as well...I think it's just lower ash content...but not sure if it's lower zinc too. If you have CJ-4 oil in your engine....I would get rid of it...now! JMO

so anyone know why my throttle is so super sensitive it's almost now to where you either have to stomp on it to take off or barely get in it. Medium throttle is extremely jerky

Have you checked the APPS voltage to see what it's putting out?

Got the new VP put on tonight. Wasn't to bad of a job. Definately don't recommend doing it on a hot motor though. Truck is running smooth as ever. I haven't really road tested it to much aka stood on it but that'll come tomorrow.

Yep, it's fried! I started this thread back in February and never heard anything negative about the new blend of oils. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=136899

So naturally, after I start using it.....we get some new negative info on it. I am going to change again in about 1300 miles. I just bought 3 more gallons of Rotella (new blend) from walmart. That is all they carry now, I think.

If I don't find out any more info, I guess I will try to find some of the old stuff again. Don't really know where to get it now.

UM......its Bipolar?

Might see if you can get a scanner that can measure % of the APPS input. That might tell you something. You want a smooth, linier increase, directly related to the pedal input. If its all over the place....or stays the same and then jumps up real quick......APPS might need some addressing......

Did you try to reflash with the Smarty?

Well it's hard to tell if the truck is any faster but it's by far more efficient. EGT's go up much slower and the smoke cloud thins out a lot more at full boost. Even with the TST on 5 the smoke cloud is much thinner than before. Driving around town the smoke is easier to drive around. This tells me that the engine is working much more efficiently and therefore should be making much more power. I know it sure is nice to run from 55-100mph without being in the red very long.
