Went to the car show, it was ok, some neat stuff. Looked at the new dodges with the 6.7 and the 6 speed auto, cant wait to try one out. Some weird electronics under that hood. There was one that was hooked up to the turbo, is the new engine got a variable vane turbo?

You bet. Thats how it does the engine braking. I've got nothing to do on Monday, maybe I'll go test drive some new trucks.

Actually to be technical, its not Variable Vane but rather VGT or Variable geometry turbo. Imagine a turbo that has an exhaust housing that changes from 9 cm2 to 20 cm2 with the computer at the helm.. Ah, spool up without problems breathing at higher RPM and load..

Also the VGT has about 3 moving parts instead of the infinite amount on the GM and Ford turbos.

Let me know how it goes Tate, there are a bunch on the lot here I just don't have the time to go.

Well, I didn't do it today. Didn't even leave the house except to get the mail. But tomorrow, I have to go somewhere. I'll try and go test some trucks and then get some lunch.

...........OK maybe I should expand a little.

I'm going to throw the drivetrain away.......

So really I'm looking for a 2000+ DS with a blown engine good interior and body.

Give me some more time. Went to the dealer in town today. Only 6.7's they had were in cab and chassis, and all were manuals. Pickups should be arriving in the next couple weeks, guy will call me when he gets some in.

Anyway, took on of the C&C trucks out. Quiet, and a real soft clutch pedal. After driving the 07, I had a hard time pressing the clutch down in mine. Pedal effort was probably half in the 07. Had a hard time finding reverse, but eventually found it. Gotta move the shifter a long way. I really don't like the shifting of the 6-speed. Guy said it will loosen up over time, but he hasn't seen any with enough miles to know for sure. It wasn't overly exciting to drive. Granted, my truck has some work done to it, but this truck didn't push you back in the seat at all. Throttle didn't seem terribly linear either. Had to use a lot of pedal. I don't know if that is because of torque management, or what. Had to watch the tach to know when to shift, couldn't hear the engine enough to tell if it was working, or revving. Quiet all the way to 3200 rpm. I never really lugged it to see what it would do in the lower RPM. Doing 50 km/h in my truck in 4th, I'm around 1100 RPM, this truck in 5th was still close to 1500. 100km/h in 6th was over 2200 RPM. Said it had something like 3.92 gears, but I'm guessing it had 4.10s. I didn't think they were available with 3.92s. I will say, for a 1-ton without any weight on the back, it did ride fairly nice. A heavy flat deck would make it ride even better. Anyway, in summation, I'd save my money and just keep plugging with 98. Especially when he said the cheapest one he can remember was $55k! He's getting me a quote on a base 2500 4x4, see what it comes to.

BTW, the exhaust brake isn't enabled until the trucks are sold. He said they don't want people playing with it.

Why not get something like an HTB2 62, or a PS62? PS62 is $700 cheaper than the silver62. I think there is a B1 for sale in the classifieds.

HTT makes a good turbo. The HTB2 is a nice unit, but I have read a bit about surge down in the Rpm range. HTT also has a pretty nice upgrade program and I have heard really good customer service. High Tech Turbo

I have been putting my eye on a PS62, but today I had a offer on a S300 (Switzer turbo that the PS turbos are made from). So it looks like I am going with the S300 (BD's Super B turbo is a rebadged S300). Got it used from a guy I know in the US...Should be here next week...

I have seen the s300s and they are awsome units, i just wonder cause i have heard these only support up to 400hp... so around 40 pounds, i would think that you would start blowin hot air in the high rpm's?????

Is edge's jammer BB turbo in with the s300, I get special treatment at edge so maby this may be a better route for me.
