Has anybody else had the fog light bulb on the drivers side go out more than once yet? Maybe I have a short. Is it easy to determine if you have a short somewhere? Before I replace this bulb again I'd like to check the three locations that I've had to replace bulbs at, multiple times (pass brake 2, drive fog 3, drive running 1).

With the increase of use of LED's Grote has developed several different flashers for different flashers applications. They make one that replaces our flasher, part number 44891. http://grote.com/product.php?product_number=44891

I have used these flashers for different applications to fix unbelievably fast flash rates.

I just put two LED 1157A's in the front of my truck. With only a blinker on (or the emergency flashers) everything works just fine. But when I'm running the parking lights, the blinkers refuse to work at all. I already upgraded to the electronic flasher unit. Any ideas?

Yeah, the front signals ground through the side markers.

There are a couple of ways to deal with it. You can run a separate ground for the turn signal/parking light bulb, and then run the side marker as just a marker.

Or you can get an LED lamp assembly that does marker and signal duty and custom fit it to the fender, then wire that up in parallel with the turn signal/parking light with new grounds for each.

 

Are blinking side marker lights required by law for vehicles made after a certain year model?


That's more trouble than I'm willing to go to just to have LED bulbs.


The OEM front signal bulbs are 2057A's (incandescent). Is it possible that someone may eventually manufacture the 2057 in LED, or does this grounding issue mean an LED bulb will never function properly in our front signals?

Yes

It's not so much a grounding issue as it is an LED issue.
The side markers try to ground thru the park/turn lamp. When the parks are on the side markers supply +12 to the - normal - ground. The LED becomes reverse biased and shuts down.
When the LED shuts down there's no ground - hence no blinky
