New and need info

I joined here a while back ,but haven't been on here much till now. I windowed the block in my 02 powerstroke and am considering a common rail conversion. Just looking over the threads to get some info.

Need some answers like:

Best chip or programmer.
Where to buy head studs.
Turbo's
What is the best common rail YEAR

Welcome!

You'll probably get the best tech help for most of your questions in the 3rd gen Performance forum.

Also look at the Cummins Conversions subforum in the General Diesel forum, there's a great thread about putting a CR engine in an Excursion in there which you might find helpful.

Where do you live? There are a lot of DTR chapters with people that may be able to help you out...

I noticed you have the Edge chip. I had one in my 6.0 I used to have and liked it. How does it stack up to the Smarty.

I have not tried the smarty yet, but I think that the smarty has a lot better programs, and they are more tailor tuned. I am probably going to get one soon. The biggest thing that I like about the edge is adjustability on the fly.

I could go on about the smarty, I think that it's a great programmer.

If I did it over again, I'd get the smary. Call Lary in the DTR store, he'll get you a good price on it...
