New From Midway Ga.
Good morning to all.
been reading your threads for the past month, there seems to be some go info on here, and some realy funny comments. been rebuilding diesels engines since 1977, cut my teeth on the 71, 53 & 92 series detroit diesel, cummins nh series, cat 3200 3400 and 1693, i know someone out there is saying "boy that some old stuff", it wasnt that long ago, now i deal with a lot of the modern day electronics for the cars and the trucks,
I have a 1995 GMC sububan, 2500 2wd 6.5 td, that i built, avg 25 mpg on back roads "under65 mph, will pull my wifes 28 ft coachmen travel trailer easy at 60 mph avg about 10 mpg.
Now i have aquired a 1997 dodge 3500 with a 5.9 cumalong 2wd std cab, have been going tru the maint on the truck 305 showing on the odometer, took it out for a test pull last night and was shocked that it didnt have the umpp that the 6.5 has, first things first, this morning well we address this, 1st the exhaust then the breather, and we will let yall know how it did,

Welcome! You will get the '97 outpulling the 6.5 in no time - and it won't ever leave you stranded with mysterious electronic problems. I had a '95 6.5 powered Suburban for a while - man, was that ever a steep learning curve!
