New To Dodge Truck Forum
Hello: I'm Thomas Whitman located in Coeburn, Virginia. I recently purchased a 2007 Dodge, 3500, 6 speed, 4X4, Diesel, Mega Cab short bed. It's not new but had 19,500 miles. I have always wanted a durable pickup so saved about two years and selected this one. We are very happy with the performance and quality of the truck. Bought just in time for the diesel price to start going whaco! It does pretty good I think as around town and trips to Wal-mart it gets about 19+ mpg, and on the road about 22+ mpg calculated from a 900 mile or so round trip to Baltimore. It came with standard Havoline oil but when I change that out I'm putting in synthetic oil and possibly S&B filters when needed in hopes of a slight improvement in fuel economy. I use it for road service calls as I'm in the towing business here in Southwest Virginia and have quite a bit of flat tires, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery and so on. Of course I'm very concerned as others about the fuel problems and one of the things I want to share here is how to achieve maximum fuel economy in a rather large pickup truck. Thanks for allowing me to participate in the forums. I'm sure there is lots of valuable information available here and I hope I might add to it a little.
