Wrong Fuel???

A friend of mine just filled up her Furd PSD with diesel that I guess is supposed to be used for earth moving equipment, tractors, etc. -- it's really reddish.

What's the difference and will it hurt her engine. Does she need to get it out of the tank or can she just run it? How about a fuel treatment?

Need an answer quick.

Thanks,

Red dyed off hwy fuel won't hurt anything. It will be fine.

That type of fuel is non-taxed and intended for farm/gov't use. It is only dyed red and may contain a small amount of sulfer. Won't do anything but maybe increase mileage (did for me)

The hwy stuff is dyed green. The State Board of Equalization might miss out on some tax, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

It won't hurt anything except maybe her wallet. There is a pretty stiff fine for running red dye fuel in an on-road vehicle if caught. Run it down until it's really empty, then refill.

They do random checks for evidence of red dye at weigh stations here in CA, but that is about the only place I have seen it in this area.

It will take several tanks before all the dye is washed through the fuel system.
