wierd clutch issue
Went to take my son to school this AM after the truck had sat for a few days. After I backed it out, put it in 2nd and then went to shift to 3rd the peddle went mushy and did not go out of 2nd. Peddle was very slow to return to the up position and stayed soft.Flet like it was out of fluid!! Checked the fluid and it was good. Did not see any leaks but there felt like residue around the peddle linkage area, but that is I think from me greesing it. It has been squeeking bad.
Does this sound like the Master or slave?? Is there a part # for the whole piece cause Napa sells it in 2 sections. Just not sure where I should start
Thanks in advance
Chris

Have the same problem, check out previous 6 days posts 24 valve drivetrain.
I ordered a slave cylinder (AC Delco) 50.00 from www.autopartsgiant.com as they had free shipping.
I had mixed responses as to which one master, slave or both needing to be replaced.

They also have an HD combo slave/master out there somewhere that does not need to be blead......its has a push together fitting in the line.......very slick...and i want to say its from DC....i have seen it at one of my dealers shops......he says he uses them when he does Double Disc clutches. Remember, good rule of thumb: When you replace a slave, always replace the master. Or vice-versa.
It's next to impossible to bleed. I went thru this a long time back and tried exactly what you are doing. After about 4 hours of bench bleeding (or trying) and reassembly and still not working correctly, I went to DC and bought the entire master/slave and lineset combo the sell. In 30 minutes I had truck back on road and have not had a single issue with the clutch. IMHO it is not even close to the pennies saved to try and cobble together this this assembly. One time DC $$ is worth the headache...

When i worked for John Deere, i had to use a power bleeder to get clutch slave/master combos to bleed. I reversed bleed through the slave to the master. If i didn’t have it....i would have never gotten the air out. Talk about
!!!!! Thank God most of the tractors didn’t use this setup.......
My suggestion.....find a power bleeder. I want to say the one i used was Matco......and was like $30ish.....might have been (EDIT: A LOT) more. I borrowed it!
Here it is......
Its the one in the middle....MITYVAC SILVERLINE KIT...well worth the $$$!

I know this is kinda late coming, but I forgot about this thread.
Got the whole master/slave kit from the local steelership
Ended up being almost 300.00 all said and done, but the truck shifts better than ever. I never realised how much peddle I had lost in it.
Thanks all
