Wierd A/C Problem

My A/C works great, then I hear a door close (sounds like it's behind the gauges,
kind of a thump, and it blows hot. Turn it off, wait a bit, turn back on, works, then door closes..... Anyone with similar problems, couldn't find anything in the forums.

Thanks

On my 99, it did the same thing. There is an actuator on the passenger side, down by the feet, next to the blower. Between that actuator motor and the door that it moves, there is a $5 or less plastic piece, kinda like an adapter or shaft extension. That busted on mine causing it. I changed it with a stubby phillips screwdriver in the parking lot of the dealer. It's a dealer only part and the guy behind the counter knew what to get without looking it up.

If I remember right, you can take the screws out, but could only move the actuator motor down just enough to slip the old one out and the new one in.

If it is that there's a heavy duty replacement for the piece that connects the actuator to the blend door. Do a search on it.

Sweet. That's the kind of stuff I like to hear. Now keep that $1000 in your bank instead of ac shop owners bank.
