Why when its 40 below?
Morning folks!
I have a weird one. It sucks because its 40 below with the wind this morning.
I had to boost my truck to start it to get to work. I don't think I had it plugged in enough, I need one of the lighted cords. Let it warm up while I was in the shower. The grid heater had stopped cycling when I went to leave and all the gauges looked good. About halfway through my 10 minute drive the voltage goes to zero and when I park at work and try to restart the battery is seems dead. I have a charger on it now.
A few months ago I ripped the ECU out and send it away because of over charging. It checked out so I redid the connections and got it all working properly, or so it seemed. Think the two are related or has my alternator calved?

I do generally leave it plugged in all night. And it starts awesome. I must have not plugged into the socket properly last night is all. Just happened to be -40 too.
Anyways, little update I called around and was able to get a into a shop today to look at (very rare to get same day service here). On the drive there it seems to be charging but the check engine light has come on. The only other time I've had the light come on is accidently overrevved the engine downshifting one time.
92 one ton with a 5 speed.

I know, but it affects me when I have to boost it and swap out the alternator.
Turns out the alternator went south. I guess it was just a weird coincidence it happened then. Could have been any day, but happened to be the coldest day of the year so far.
Thanks for all the suggestions!!
