Not meant for daily driving! You have got to be kidding? If the tech told you that he should be fired! If I am spending that much dough on a truck it had better be capable of driving it anyware or any place!! Makes me upset and it's not even my truck!

I here it all the time. those 6.7s are not ment to be grocery getters. turbos and dpf filters will be a problem.

My 6.7 gets daily driven for some lengths on short trips. Not one issue. You will always hear the horror stories but never the good ones. I posted in the 6.7 forum for you on some tips for operation.

You want a goood 6.7 story my dads 07 has been in the shop 24 times and the turbos been changed out probably 10 times and various sensors. As a last resort the dealer who would rather pay the 10k fine instead of putting another 15k worth of tech time and turbos took all the emission stuff off as a last resort to make this truck run and still honoring his warranty and dad has knock on wood has not had any problems since till a week ago he started getting bad death wobble and took it to the shop and they told him that they would not warranty it because it was 1000 miles over the drive train warranty. Needless to say dad went off the deep end and went straight to the owner of the dealer ship and threatened to take them to court over this deal that his truck has been in 24 times for the same time they also took all the emission stuff off he wants a new truck with either a 5.9 or a 6.7 that will not be a lemon like this one. I think there going to make it right with him now his truck is not a daily driver grocery getter either it spends its life running down the road hauling hay or cattle on the ranch the most time it spends idling is in the summer during harvest and lugging around the fields and when it does he makes sure he sets the high idle up.

That dealer could get sued big time, that's against federal law to remove emissions device on these trucks. He should know better since he is a dealership.

You got it wrong. After warranty is up, watch the egr and dpf fall off and let that sucker breath!

Chrysler seems to be updating the PCM on these trucks every month. The latest and greatest update addresses the following issues:
EGR valve cleaning cycle.
· DPF “Snuffer” feature to expand DPF temperature controls during deSoot.
· DPF “Super deSoot” feature to enhance the deSoot process.
· Improved air filter minder detection.

The key to the issue is what the tech said, these engines are not intended for daily commuter driving, period!

If you can get them out and load them up on a long haul a couple times a week they will do just fine. Otherwise, just figure on making good friends at the Dealer's repair facility.

Put the Service Manager and the diesel tech on your Christmas list, you will not regret it!

Hook the truck up to 4,000 lbs and run er hard for 100 miles. It'll help burn off all the soot, then do an EGR delete.

thats the deal with any new truck though, they made the good ones back in the day and for half the price my 91 has 350k+ miles on it and i just replace a starter or buy a can of starting fluid during the winter for it, my 06 is needs an engine and is sitting in my driveway, they cant afford to keep them running they make them to last to the end of the warranty and then they can sell you all your parts, after i rebuild my 06 im going to a 2nd gen
