truck is studdering
truck is studdering
i will be driving down the road and it wuld be fine for a while and then it would shut off and come right back on. it does this a few times but fast. if you floor it it goes away and a while later it does the same thing. i just had a injection pump put on about 4 months ago. and i changed the fuel filter. i am just sick of fighting this problem any longer. any help would be good. thanks guys
Check your wiring to the injection pump shutoff solenoid, and carefully inspect the wire right at the injection pump to be sure it does not have a small break in the insulation that is allowing it to ground out and temporarily shut off the pump.
The other thing I would do is verify that my fuel hoses were newer than two or three years old, and check to be sure someone did not use airplane clamps to secure them to the fuel lines. These should use a constant compression flat spring type clamp if it is not equipped with the quick release O-ring fittings. If it has the quick release O-ring fittings, make sure they are not loose and pulling air.
The truck you have uses a diaphragm type transfer pump, and they also occasionally fail. I have seen VE injection pumps swapped when the transfer pump is the problem, so check your pressure and volume to be sure that pump is good.
If this is only skipping a beat or so in cold (freezing) weather, add a fuel conditioner that eliminates gelling and formation of paraffin crystals.

the truck skipps when it wants to. today it was worse. okay let me see if i got this right the transfer pump is in the fuel tank correct. i could have a leak in the two lines comeing from the fuel tank. does anyone know how much those lines are and if i can get them replaced. the lines look good but i want to make sure i fix the problem. thanks guys for your help
