timing tools, cummins part numbers?
timing tools, cummins part numbers?
Does anyone have the cummins part numbers for the tools needed to do timing on a p7100 pump truck? as I understand it I need a DV socket at the least. I can make a indicator holder and scrounge one up, I can bar the engine over off the alternator, and im sure i have some kind of puller. But any and all tool/part numbers would be great. Cummins is pretty useless if you dont know the part numbers.
the barring tool seems to be the easyest part to get. napa, snap on, matco and a few others list having them. I'm sure cummins has the parts too they just all seem like I'm bothering them by calling up and trying to buy things.
It seems like many things that there is 1 or 2 manufacture of the tools & many sellers claiming to make , have , sell,
From what I've heard Miller tool makes some of the specialty tools , but you can only get through other suppliers , OTC owns Miller , at least this is what I have gathered .
The only # s I have at hand are the Snap On catalog site , a place to start , get more info about the multible tools & aplications .

I saw the snap on stuff, uncluding the smaller snap on timeing set thats has the gear puller and stuff. the only thing I dont like about that is its "blue point" witch in my experance all the snap on "blue point" stuff has turned out to be crap. Theres a few people on ebay that also seem to make there own tools for this job. however I was hopeing to pick up something today to get it done this weekend so I can get my brand new POS 6speed out and sent out for a rebuild. I dont think it even has 5miles on it. I'm starting to run out of time to get everything back together and driveable by march.
Hope this helps
