Thanks for the info guys...borrowed a Snap On Scanner from school today(surprised to get it
) And the following codes are present:
"Engine"
252
P1688
P0253
252 was unknown code
P1688 was injection pump failure
P0253 Injection Pump Valve Body Circuit(something like that)
"Transmission"
P1693
P1693 something being maintained in the tranny
EDIT: Just wondering if code P0253 has to do with the computer that sits on the Injection Pump, maybe that is messed up causing the P1688??

Yea
Tried looking up the codes some more. I already know what 1688 means. but for 252, 0253 and 1693 I would like if someone could explain these to me
252 - Unknown Code.
0253 - Fuel Injection Pump Failure Valve Open Circuit.
1693 - DTC Detected In ECM or PCM. I remember on the scanner there where two initials like FTL and somethings else that where being maintained.(taken from the transmission scan)
What do those two mean?
Thanks
Dinner

In most cases, 1688 means that you need a new Injection Pump. As well, you likely need a new lift pump...the reason for the pressure guage is to make sure you have enough fuel to cool and lubricate the injector pump (VP-44). Sorry for the bad news.
Did you clear the codes?
For replacement pumps, I would suggest Piers Diesel Performance in B.C.:

I did not clear the codes because I wasn't sure if I should wait and clear them until after the parts are replaced. The truck is up at our one garage right now getting looked over, so we'll see what happens.
Thats why you need to check the fuel pressure....u still need a guage as well. Good Luck and post if you have any more questions....

We are getting a new Lift Pump and Injector Pump(unless magically it's ok). So hopefully have her back up and running sometime soon.
Yea I'm going to be looking around for the parts I need to at least get a temporary fuel gauge

Hey fellas,
Missed school yesterday to go work on the truck to get it running. Needed to replace the VP44 and the Lift Pump. Started around 8 in the morning, and both parts wernt even in yet
But I got a guy to go pick up the Vp44 for me. The longest part was getting the puller in the front of the pump and pushing it out. After that I had to wait like an hour and 1/2 because the lift pump wasn't in yet. But from the time I got everything out, replaced and back together it took me roughly 6 hours, and that is with waiting around for parts. So i'm pretty happy with how the whole procedure went
Only needed to ask my mechanic a couple of questions and that was about it. He thought i did pretty good for a 17 year old
Now she is back running on the road, thanks for everyones help
