Trans Problem

Just put in my newly rebuilt trans and now there is no tc lock up or overdrive. I checked all my connections and all were on tight. What is going on with this???? The only thing different is the trans was from a 98 12 valve and went into an 01 24 valve. Do I need to put in my valve body to get this to work right???? Help please

I would guess that the 98 had a 47RH and the 01 had a 47RE transmission. The RH transmission has a hydraulic govenor and the RE has a electric govenor. You will need to change way more than the valve body to make it right.

I'm pretty sure my '98 came with a 47RE from the factory.

Well then, did you check the fuses and check the relay that powers up the transmission?

Not all 47RE's have the same valve body. 96 to 98 or 99 had the same valve body and 99 or 2000 to 2002 had the same valve body.

If your valve body is good, switching them should solve the problem.

94-95 had the 47RH
96-early 2003 had the 47RE

Check the solenoids. There are two of them mounted on a bracket on the VB. One is lockup and the other is the OD.

You can wire a switch (even if it's temporary) to manually control the OD solenoid circuit - take it for a test drive.

How would I go about wireing it up? Which wire do I hook to and does it get grounded or power going to it?

Should be a switched ground circuit - probably the OR/BR wire, but you need to check a schematic.

Ok. This trans that I put in, I replaced all the clutches with alto red eagles and kolene steels. Could I have put something together wrong in the od unit?????

when putting the od piston back into place you may have cut the seal and it wont have any od at all. I blew my seal out and replaced everything before checking it out!

Do you mean the od accumulator in the valve body???? I changed out that today and still nothing. The only thing I have not changed yet is the entire valve body due to mine being dirty from my trans going out.....

When you pull off the OD the rear of the trans showing , is actually a piston for the o/d. They are a bear to get the seal right. Would be the next thing I would check if all the electronics are working.
